The 2010 to 2011 Arts Season on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

By day, Hilton Head Island offers many outdoor activities like walking, golf, tennis, bike riding, the beach, or swimming in pools or ocean just to mention a few!  Looking at buying real estate is always a great daytime activity on Hilton Head Island or in the South Carolina Lowcountry. 

When the stars come out at night, the Hilton Head Community is blessed to have a great Symphony Orchestra that will be celebrating its 29th Season and a Playhouse that will be having its 15th Anniversary this Season. 

The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s 2010/2011 Season will be a Celebration of Music Inspired by Dance.  The season will have nine concerts on Monday nights with three concerts repeated on Sunday.  There will be additional performances like the popular “Symphony Under the Stars.”  For additional information, please go to HHSO.org.  The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina has a lineup of five plays that include “Man of La Mancha” and “Hello Dolly.”  The Arts Center website is ArtsHHI.com.

 

A great way to kick off the Holiday Season would be start with an Arts Weekend.  On Sunday, December 5, spend the night with matchmaker, Dolly Levi in “Hello Dolly.”  Then on Monday night December 6, enjoy the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s “Welcome Yule” holiday concert.  To have a romantic Valentine weekend, come early in the week and pick up a house or villa on Saturday as a gift that will last and you can use unlike candy or even flowers.  On Sunday night you can catch the Symphony, however, to take full advantage of the weekend see the play Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps” at the Arts Center and then on Monday night, February 14, sit back and enjoy the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra’s “Bernstein to Bolero”…fated lovers. 

The Symphony offers the chance to subscribe to all nine concerts or packages of three or six performances.  Individual tickets are available too.  The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra began 29 years ago with the purpose of offering an unparalleled concert experience to the Hilton Head Island area resident and visitors.  In March, the HHSO will also host the Hilton Head International Young Artists Piano Competition.  For more information on the Symphony, please go to their website at HHSO.org.
